Our Story...

... We are learning to embrace it as ours and not compare to others.

One of our chapters will soon be coming to a close and we'll be moving on to the next.

We haven't been the most stationary family the last seven and a half years, but there's been fun and adventure. Most know the basics, but a very quick napkin sketch would look something like this:

The big question is now answered and we will be moving to Houston, Texas, in mid-May. Kristian will get to combine his passion for serving the marginalized, his expertise on the issue of human trafficking, and his legal skills to help launch the newest office for Love146, an organization I've mentioned many times over the years on this blog, and one with which most of you are probably familiar.

Here is the organization in a nutshell:

Love146 Vision: The abolition of child trafficking and exploitation. Nothing less.

Love146 Mission: Abolition and Restoration. We combat child trafficking and exploitation with the unexpected and restore survivors with excellence.

We were caught totally off-guard by this job opportunity and are still amazed at how it has all worked out.  We could not be more thrilled, though we are unquestionably sad to leave behind yet another set of irreplaceable friends. After several moves, however, I do love our network of incredible friends-who've-become-family literally from the west to east coast. Our friends are just phenomenal.

I have not read Jennie Allen's book "Anything" (though I'd like to soon) but have seen a couple interviews and know the basic premise. I have been praying a similar prayer for our family... (in essence) "Lord, we are yours. Take what we guard and hold as idols. Do anything with us."

This next step in our story so directly reflects this prayer.  It is causing us to cast some new vision for our family, re-plan, and re-budget. It's so good for us and we are grateful.

We know approximately four people in Houston, so we are definitely in the market for some friends. Let me know if you know anyone who would be interested.

For now, we are in the throes of house hunting, office hunting, and just trying to get our bearings straight. It can be a daunting task but we have certainly done it before and I am fully confident we will see God's provision just as much in this move as we have in our others.

There will be more to come on the type of work Kristian and the organization will be doing in Houston. In the first year there will be lots of connecting with local supporters, potential funders (businesses, churches, individuals), and service providers in the area. Houston is a strategic city to place the second U.S. office as it's a major hot spot for human trafficking.

For now, check out this video and their website if you aren't yet familiar!

Thank you for continuing to join us, for being a part of our story, and allowing us to be a part of your's.
