Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Phil. 2
A little late for a Valentine's Day post, but oh well...
The day was great, really just because I got to hang out with Kristian for hours upon end. We never make a huge deal over it, but do usually enjoy some homemade cards and treats.
This year Kristian made me a gourmet meal. It was divine.
For starters: a spinach, avacado, strawberry, and pecan salad. Pretty much all my favorite things in a bowl. And homemade dressing! Delightful.
Then we moved on to an amazing entree of Pasta Milano with a homemade gorganzola cream sauce and asparagus and peas tossed in. This was accompanied by herb roasted tomatoes- all stuffed and prepared by K.
We did something fun and different for "gifts" this year... keeping in the tradition of simple and inexpensive, we headed down to some thrift shops in the Flatiron District and decided we would browse around and try to both find something the other might like, and then come home and exchange the gifts.
Sadly, these "thrift shops" ended up being more expensive antique type shops so we just looked around for a bit without buying, stopped for a nice coffee treat, and headed home for Kristian to begin dinner.
Happily, the next day we found some more reasonably priced items at one of the thrift shops I frequent up here. Kristian received a Central Park poetry book from the 80's- haha, I'm sure what he's always wanted! And I received a beautiful antique pie serving utensil and a tiny little dish to set my coffee spoons on, instead of the counter... a pet peeve of Kristian's :)
Special day with my special man.
