whata journey

wanted to share a story about a really cool family...
kristian and i "met" them "coincidentally" through the blogosphere.

they're your normal american family...
dad, mom, 3 kids
living a comfortable life
wondering where God will lead them

they feel a calling...
a journey to become the least.

the reason?
"Jesus asked us to put others' needs above our own, we want to reject our flesh and no longer conform to this world, but rather align ourselves with our Savior. This is a continuous quest. Jesus said 'but many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first' (Matthew 19:30). This is our life goal - a continuous journey to be more like Christ by becoming the least."

how will they do this?
"We plan to sell our home, our possessions, and travel the United States interacting with the poor and marginalized...and spreading the love of Christ to them through acts of love and compassion. Some of these acts may be monetary, such as buying a homeless family lunch, or new sleeping bags, or they may be acts of love such as washing a homeless man’s feet and sharing with him the Good News that God loves him. We plan to go to laundry mats and begin conversations about the love of God. We plan to buy pizzas and approach homeless camps under bridges and talk about our hope in Jesus. Sometimes we may show up in an inner city slum and say nothing at all, just provide the basic necessities that the poor so desperately need. As the old adage goes, 'preach the Gospel and if necessary, use words.' "

that's right. they have sold their home and are purchasing an rv. beginning this summer, their family will be traveling across the US serving.

we are excited about following them on their journey and hope you will as well!...

oh, and remember when Jesus talked in luke about not inviting your friends and family to dinner at your home, but instead inviting the poor, crippled, and blind? well, they did it!
