this is an artists i recently discovered and i love her.
anne introduced me to her a while back but i've just now realized how much i like her music. she feels a bit like sara groves, maybe my all time favorite.
below is the video for the title track of her newest album and it's great. the song was inspired by an orphan girl, albertine, she met on a trip to africa.
through the song she urges us to take action and make our faith real.
the chorus says,
"now that i have seen,
i am responsible,
faith without deeds is dead..."
james reminds us in chapter 1 to "be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. for if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror.
for he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. but the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.
if anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless. religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world." (vs 22-27)
everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more. luke 12:48
i have been given much, and with that i am supposed to do much.
